Though I perhaps am not as influenced by this book as I once was, I include it here as an interesting read, for reasons of personal nostalgia and also for the qualities of one character in particular that is central to the book.

Like all books I have enjoyed, I am loathe to try and explain them to people, as I suspect we all see different things in what we read, or at least how we interpret what we read.
